The Health Immersion Experience

The Health Immersion Experience is a powerful, multiple-day experience that can change your health and your life.

Our team of health professionals works closely with you to look in depth at the many aspects of your health—physical, emotional, and spiritual. Across several days, we learn from you and from each other, and together we create a personalized, comprehensive plan that addresses your individual health concerns and objectives. We offer a sequential series of therapies and experiences designed specifically for you so that at the end of your Health Immersion Experience you can address health concerns with the very best that all of medicine has to offer, and begin to live the healthy lifestyle you envision.

Our Health Immersion Experience includes:

Your Personal Healthcare Team
An integrative physician, nurse and health coach join together to partner with you throughout your Health Immersion Experience, along with the entire Duke Integrative Medicine team.

• Your personal healthcare team spends the time to learn about who you are and what is most important to you.
• They share their observations with you and with the full clinical team at Duke Integrative Medicine.
• A Personalized Health Plan is developed by you and your healthcare team that addresses your specific concerns, needs and goals.
• Your team coordinates all of your healthcare treatment and provides you with the full support you need to begin to enact your plan and embrace new, healthy life skills.

Medical & Therapeutic Sessions
A full complement of medical and therapeutic sessions shapes your Health Immersion Experience.

• Pre-assessment discussions with you and your health care providers determine the right combination of services and sessions to address your personal needs and goals.
• An 80-minute initial consultation and examination (as needed) with your integrative medicine physician provides the foundation of your care while you're here.
• Five therapeutic sessions or consultations with our integrative clinicians (acupuncturists, health psychologists, exercise physiologists, nutritionists, massage therapists, and others), selected by you and your healthcare team address your specific needs and goals.

Health Coaching
We understand that making some of the changes that can enhance your health isn't always easy. That's why we partner you with an integrative health coach who supports and guides you through the steps to take to make these changes real and enduring. You will experience:

• An initial 80-minute session with your integrative health coach is designed to help you explore and clarify your goals.
• Regular check-ins with your health coach, and—following your last physician visit—a meeting to discuss how to put your Personalized Health Plan into action when you return home.
• Follow-up integrative health coaching sessions, 5 individual calls, following your Health Immersion to help you overcome any obstacles you encounter as you work to achieve your health goals.

Classes, Workshops and Relaxation
We invite you to participate in the many activities offered at Duke Integrative Medicine during your Health Immersion Experience.

• A balanced schedule of classes and workshops covering a wide range of movement and educational topics provides a foundation in self-care strategies and skills.
• Our unique healing environment offers many opportuniteis for you to relax, reflect and rejuvinate including the whirlpool, sauna, steam room, fitness room, library, meditative spaces, gardens, and tranquil surroundings.
• A delightful and nutritious breakfast and lunch are served in our state-of-the-art cafe, and snacks are available throughout each day.

Further diagnostic tests, consultations or therapeutic services may be medically indicated and individually recommended, requiring a longer stay for some participants. Our programs are flexible, allowing you to add extra services or additional days. We also offer corporate and group immersion options based on group goals and needs. The Health Immersion Experience is also offered as a part of our Platinum Enrollment package, which provides a full year of integrative care in addition to the Health Immersion Experience.
