For Patients

  1. Do I need a referral from a doctor to receive treatment at Duke Integrative Medicine?
    No referral is needed. Anyone may come for any service at our practice. Please note that all new acupuncture patients are required to submit a medical clearance form from their Primary Care Provider before their scheduled visit.

  2. Do you accept third party insurance plans?
    Yes; we accept most insurance plans for physician consultations and select insurance plans for health psychology and nutrition appointments. You can learn more HERE.

  3. Do you accept Medicare?
    Yes; we are happy to accept Medicare Part B when it is your primary insurance. Please note that patients are responsible for all co-payments in keeping with Medicare guidelines. We file only Medicare Allowable Services. PLEASE NOTE: Medicare only covers some of our services (generally MD and selected health psychology services) and not others.  You will be given information at the time you sign in alerting you to services that are not covered by Medicare.

  4. Do you offer any payment plans?
    We now offer a payment plan for Annual Membership under our Platinum and Gold Membership options. The total amount of annual membership is divided into 12 monthly payments, and can be deducted from any accounts, including a health reimbursement account.

  5. Can I use my Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pay for services?
    Yes; many of our services can be covered by an FSA. Please check with your FSA carrier for a list of services allowed.

  6. What is your cancellation policy?
    Clinical Services: We require notification no less than 24 hours prior to an appointment. There is a $25 cancellation fee for all scheduled appointments cancelled less than 24 hours in advance. You will be charged an administration fee of 50% of the non-discounted cost of your scheduled service if you do not cancel your appointment as described here.

    Full/Half-day package: Full refunds are available if notification is received 48 hours prior to the arrival date. There is a 10% administrative fee for processing the cancellation.

  7. Do Duke employees receive a discount?
    Yes. All Duke employees receive a 20% discount on all services except physician and health psychology visits. Programs and educational classes are event-specific; please refer to the specific program for details.
